About sv Sunrise Star
The Boat and her History
sv Sunrise Star is a custom design Angus Primrose 37ft mono hull classic yacht . She has been around the world once and has done another half round until she first settled in Turkey using the beautiful Marmaris as a base and then she sailed via the Greek islands of the Aegean to the Greek mainland in the Peloponnese where she is now based in stunning Poros and also close to other beautiful islands like Hydra, Aegina, Methana, Spetses and Agistri. Our company is named after her, because she is the legend with many tales to tell! She is our office and not used as a charter boat, she do get visitors off course like friends and family that come to sail on short sailing holidays. We use her as a base to manage our official charter boat sv Eset, a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42 feet with 3 double cabins and 1 single cabin with 2 stacker beds , 2 bathrooms [ Heads ] and a big lounge/salon and a spacious cockpit for sailing in the day and sundowners in the evenings!
We also have a onboard barbeque, we have 2 Stand Up Paddle Boards, Snorkeling gear and a dinghy with Outboard engine included in all our trips [ These are normally excluded with your normal charter companies ]. Because we are a smaller charter company we can give personal attention and attention to detail to make it a most memorable experience for our guests.

Talk to us about your needs and we will help you design your own trip, within time and weather limits off course, where you can choose what amount of time you would like to spend on and around different Greek islands in the Saronic Gulf and all the way down to the Argolic Gulf which can include islands like Aegina, Agistri, Methana, Poros, Hydra, Dokos, Spetses and beautiful places on the mainland like Ermioni, Portocheli and Nafplion The charter will consist of a week [ 6 days ] sailing trip , using the Monday as arrival day , then sailing Monday to Friday and handing over the boat on the Saturday so we can prepare the boat for the Monday arrivals again . These are the standard trips, but custom trips and time frames can be designed for anyone. sv Eset can be bare boat or skipered by myself , Jaco Oosthuizen or one of our experienced skippers.
We have fantastic trips sailing on a 53ft Jeanneau , 4 cabins or you can chose from different size Gullets depending on the size of your group available in Turkey leaving from Marmaris or Bodrum. These are all skippered charters with a dedicated captain.
Our prices are very competitive and varies depending which month in the season with high season in July and August. Our 2026 season will start the 1st of June and end at the end of October 2026. Please check availability and prices with us for specific weeks.

The cruise tour consists of a 3 to 10 days all inclusive tour of the Turkish coastline, islands as well as selected Greek Islands with our skipper as your host . These tours which will be on a Gullet, will be perfect for 2 to 6 couples and a choice of different levels of luxury!

We have 3 double and 1 single cabin places available per 3 or 1 day trip, please check bookings to see available dates.
While we do not present you with a official certificate of competence, you will be geared with experience and knowledge when you decide to go and do your official skippers or competent crew course with a accredited sailing school which we will also recommend.

Sailing for Everyone
Skippered Charters
For those who would like to sit back and enjoy the sailing although we encourage all to be involved as active crew members, its part of the fun!!
Prices include a skipper for the whole one week trip. Bedding and towels are included.
Not included is food, liquor ,diesel, mooring fees and cleaning service for the boat after the charter, but sometimes we wave mooring costs, it depends on how much Ouzo you feed the captain!
The route with sv ESET advised will be picking up the boat in Korfos or Poros, this will be advised well in advance, but these to towns are not far apart. Poros and all surrounding islands have beautiful bays to anchor and swim.

We advise a trip down to Ermioni on the Peloponnese and accross to Dokos/ Spetses and Hydra and then back to Poros where from there you leave for Aegina and Agistri with the trip ending back in Poros or Korfos. Where only 1 couple or a small party of 3 people want to charter the yacht, prices are negotiable, also depending on the where in the season we are off course.

Bare Boat Charters

Our requirement would be for you to have a valid skippers licence and a valid International Competency Certificate.Â
Extras would be for diesel used and cleaning services after the trip.
